Portishead’s Geoff Barrow to release Drive soundtrack on vinyl for the first time

Portishead’s Geoff Barrow will release the soundtrack to stand-out 2011 film Drive on vinyl, through his label Invada Records.

Although most of the discourse surrounding drive focussed on its leading man Ryan Gosling, its soundtrack by Cliff Martinez also became a major talking point, bringing together the late night pop of Chromatics, Desire, College and more.

College’s ‘Real Hero’, used twice in the film, was given a special Drive re-release on a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it 7? last year, and the full soundtrack has been released on CD and digital download, but this marks the first vinyl release for the whole shebang.

Invada will release the soundtrack on May 21. Barrow, meanwhile, has been busy: Stones Throw are preparing the release of his collaboration-filled hip-hop project Quakers, and Portishead plan to start work on a new album later this year.

Comments of each post are now disabled

I have disabled all comments in each section because of heavy bandwidth.. I’m forced to do that because I receive TONS of messages which I can’t review right now. Especially, my previous post about Geoff has received so many posts (I agree in most of them) that I finally decided I’m not going to continue this fight between Geoff and me. I don’t maintain this site for this reason and I won’t accept comments about this subject anymore… but only stuff that has to do about Portishead as the band.

From now on, you can post comments on the old Phead message board here.
